Bunny Murphy Scholarship

In honor of my mother’s dedication to dance her entire life, I am establishing a scholarship program at Encore in her name. It will be called the "Bunny Murphy Scholarship". This is an annual scholarship that started in September 2013.

The student that is awarded our scholarship must meet a standard curriculum put together by the instructors and myself. Requirements to apply are as follows:

Eligibility Ages 9 years and up
Intermediate level to advance level
Criteria Dedicated and committed to both Dance and Encore
Excellent attendance in all classes
Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Performances Annual recital, Nutcracker
Curriculum 4 Ballet classes
3 Jazz classes
1 Modern
1 Tap
1 Hip hop
Jazz technique
Stretch class

Summer attendance is mandatory. This is a 1 year scholarship program active from September 2016 to August 2017 with a 6 month assessment.

We will award the Bunny Murphy Scholarship to one student, announced at the conclusion of our June 2016 performance.

One student will be selected by owner and instructors votes, along with the applicants voting on one student of their choice to represent Encore’s scholarship.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will scholarship attendance be monitored? Yes, the scholarship recipient represents EDC, therefore they must remain active in all required curriculum classes and their attendance will be closely monitored.

  • Is the curriculum as outlined mandatory? Yes. This scholarship is awarded to an individual extremely dedicated to the art of dance. Therefore, they must maintain active participation in all areas of dance.

  • Will I be subjected to handbook rules? All students who attend EDC are required to abide by EDC’s policies and procedures as outlined in our handbook.

  • Can I be selected more than one year? No. In order to allow all our dedicated dancers an opportunity to be accepted for Bunny’s scholarship, students may only receive this scholarship once.

  • How much can I miss in the summer or for vacation? The scholarship student can miss a maximum of 2 weeks curriculum. That can either be used during the summer or for a vacation, or a combination of both. But only 2 weeks can be missed and must have approval from Bonnie.

  • Can the scholarship be revoked? Yes. We will maintain a very high standard for our scholarship recipient. It will be considered an honor and privilege to be awarded this scholarship. Therefore we would expect this individual to maintain and uphold all standards of the scholarship. Should that not happen, the scholarship can be revoked at any time at owner and instructors discretion.

If you would like to be considered for the scholarship, please sign up at the front desk. The deadline to sign up will be Saturday May 28th. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

I look forward to implementing this very special scholarship in my Mother’s honor. I know whoever receives this award, will make Bunny and EDC very proud.

Thank you.
