Holly Copeland Sherlock

Artistic Director | Jazz, Jazz Technique, Jazz Repetoire

Being back in Los Angeles since 2010, Holly is so happy to be the Artistic Director at Encore. Her first dance teacher was her Mom, Bonnie. She grew up watching Encore be built and has seen the journey it has taken from both near and far. She is so honored to be part of the legacy her Mom has built. Holly loves mentoring all of the students at Encore. Passing along her vast knowledge she has gained throughout her training, and professional career and sharing her passion of dance to this generation of dancers is truly such an honor and gift.

Holly danced professionally for 16 years in both Los Angeles and New York. She started her career at the age of 16 dancing in the Disneyland Parades, her high school job. She then moved onto working as a commercial dancer in Los Angeles where she danced in TV, Movies, Industrials and was a member of the Winifred R. Harris Modern Dance Company. Holly also resided in New York for 12 years where she danced in theatre and was a Radio City Rockette at the Radio City Music Hall.

Her dance mentors along the way were Jackie Sleight, Joe Malone, Paula Morgan, Claude Thompson and David Marquez.  Her class warm- up is that of Joe Malone’s, combined with technique from Paula Morgan and Claude Thompson.  She teaches the fundamentals of jazz thru musicality and “line”, and loves to share dance history thru her classes. Holly lives happily in Los Angeles with her husband and daughter.

When she is not at the studio, she is on set with her 2nd career working as a Fashion/Wardrobe Stylist in the Advertising World.
