The Nutcracker

Join us this holiday season for a whimsical production of the ever classic Nutcracker as Encore Dance Centre enters their 14th season performing this magical story for families and children of all ages. With a cast of over 60 dancers in beautifully detailed costumes, they tell the story of Clara and her Nutcracker to Tchaikovsky's timeless score. You will see dolls come to life, mice and soldiers battling, snowflakes flurrying and the magical Sugar Plum Fairy in the Land of Sweets. With two shows to choose from and set at the beautiful Louise K. Taylor Performing Arts Center in Monrovia, it will delight you with perfect holiday magic this holiday season!

Encore's Annual Nutcracker performance is held every December. Auditions for ballet and ensemble roles are held every August, and performance dates are announced to our students in the fall. Participation is optional and is open to any student ages 6 years and up. All ballet roles require a minimum of 2 years of ballet training. Ensemble rolls require 1 year of dance training. Encore's Nutcracker features all styles of dance and everyone who auditions to participate will be cast in Encore's show. Deadlines for sign up are communicated to our students and parents in the summer months.

Professional costumes are purchased or hand made for our theatrical production. Costumes are supplied to our dancers by the studio and remain the property of Encore Dance Centre after the performances, therefore there is no costume fee associated with participating in EDC’s Nutcracker.
